Fall Recipes for Your Beloved Canine

There are lots of fall-oriented flavors that canines not only love but can benefit them, too.  These delicious CBD dog treats won’t just excite your pup’s senses, but they will offer essential phytonutrients to their bodies as well. Adding CBD to your dogs' treats provides fast-acting calming support and promotes joint mobility. Not only that, but making your own CBD treats for your dog can be therapeutic for the both of you.

Determining the Right Amount of Dog CBD Oil to Put in Your Recipes

CBD oil made for dogs comes in all kinds of milligram strengths, and each dog requires a different amount of cannabidiol based on their weight.  Use the serving size guide that comes with your dog-friendly CBD oil to determine the proper daily amount according to the number of drops.  Then, multiply that amount by the number of servings in each recipe to determine how much CBD oil total to put into your dough.

Homemade Applesauce

Applesauce is one of the easiest and most satisfying things you can do with an abundance of apples that are in season this time of year.  It makes for a nutritious snack and can be used as a side that can be served with potato latkes, pork chops, and more.

Ingredients:

  • 6 pounds apples, peeled and cored, and roughly sliced
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 2 droppers CBD oil (or to your preference*)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • ½ cups dark brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Preparations:

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a large pot.
  2. Cook uncovered over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent the apples or the sugar from burning, for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove the mixture from the heat and pour it into a food processor.
  4. Puree until smooth. If needed, split the apple sauce into portions before processing so as not to overflow the food processor.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Many of us carve pumpkins each Halloween as part of our holiday traditions, and we all know that those pumpkins produce a whole lot of seeds.  Roasting the seeds offers a nutritious and festive snack that can be enjoyed on its own or combined with dried seasonal fruits and nuts to create a festive snack mix.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds, removed from a pumpkin or store-bought, raw
  • 1 dropper CBD oil (or to your preference*)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp paprika
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp onion powder

Preparations:

  1. First, if you’re using pumpkin seeds removed from a pumpkin, you’ll want to wash them to remove any remaining pumpkin flesh. Simply run them under water in a sieve and allow them to dry on a paper towel.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Meanwhile, combine all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl and use your hands or a spoon to ensure that each pumpkin seed is coated in the CBD oil, salt, and spices.
  4. Grease a baking sheet lightly with olive oil.
  5. Bake for about 12 minutes.
